Induction technologies for strip processing

Fives has been active in the induction heating equipment industry for 50 years and offers CELES induction heating technologies for carbon, stainless and silicon steel grades. High power transverse flux induction heating technology, such as CELES EcoTransFlux™, is able to offer a heating solution for magnetic or nonmagnetic alloys with excellent efficiency at any temperature level.

The concept of induction heating is based on two laws of physics: Lenz Law and Joule Effect. An induction heater consists of an electromagnet, and an electronic oscillator that passes a high-frequency alternating current through the electromagnet. The rapidly alternating magnetic field penetrates the object, generating electric currents inside the conductor called eddy currents. The eddy currents flowing through the resistance of the material heat it by Joule heating.

CELES induction heating technology reduces energy consumption, minimizes environmental impact and cuts costs while meeting high quality & safety standards.

CELES EcoTransFlux™ induction technology

CELES EcoTransFlux™ is high power transverse flux induction heating technology that allows optimization of steel grade metallurgical properties and reduced emissions.

CELES induction heaters

CELES induction heaters are compact heating equipment that provide high performance, increased thermal efficiency and excellent flexibility for strip processing lines.

Induction heating technology advantages

Induction heating is adaptable for most strip processing lines, such as CAL, CGL, CAGL or CGPL for carbon steel, CAPL or BAL for stainless steel, and DCL for silicon steel. The induction solution can be part of preheating, heating, annealing, coating or curing sections of strip processing lines for new or existing facilities.

Induction heating is versatile, compact and economical and clean to operate. Other advantages include:

  • Flexibility: no pre-heating is required; energy is transferred directly
  • Accuracy: heating is immediate and applied only to a specific area
  • Efficiency: the metal is hotter than the source
  • Maintenance: high power density and optimal performance
  • Modularity: easily integrated into production lines
