Baosteel inaugurates Zhanjiang steel production complex equipped with Fives’ technologies
Baosteel, the largest automotive steel producer in China, inaugurated the completion of Zhanjiang integrated steel production complex in southeastern China's Guangdong province on August 17, 2017.
The Zhanjiang complex encompasses a 1,550mm wide cold rolling mill with a pickling line, a pickling line-tandem mill, a continuous annealing line (CAL), a continuous hot-dip galvanizing line (CGL) and two silicon steel lines. Output capacity is 2.55 million tons per year of high quality coils, mainly for home appliance, general machinery and automotive applications, oriented for high demanding Asian markets.
Fives, being a strategic partner of Baosteel, has designed and supplied two annealing line furnaces and a galvanizing line furnace for the Zhanjiang plant. The Stein Digiflex® furnaces for a 700,000 mt/y continuous annealing line and a 270,000 mt/y galvanizing line have just been put into operation for a 1,550mm wide cold rolling mill. The cold rolling mill was implemented ahead of schedule: the continuous galvanizing line was put into operation 165 days ahead of schedule, while the annealing line was advanced by 90 days.
The Stein Digiflex® furnaces have new compact design features and advanced combustion and cooling technologies, including the latest generation of AdvantTek® WRT 2.1 combustion system. Such combustion technology benefits from high recuperative energy efficiency, low NOx emissions and usage of the site generated fuels.
Fives has been invited for the inauguration ceremony hosted by Dai Zhihao, Member of Party Committee of Baowu Group and Secretary of Party Committee of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co.; Sheng Genghong, Secretary of Party Committee, Board Chairman and General Director of Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron & Steel Co.; Jiang JianJun, Mayor of Zhanjiang city; and other senior members of the local government and Baosteel Zhanjiang.
Fives has been providing technology in the field of high-quality strip processing lines and furnaces for advanced automotive and other high value-added steels to Baosteel for more than 25 years. In total, Fives designed and supplied to Baosteel 13 strip processing lines and furnaces over the last 10 years.
