Fives at Industrial Furnaces and Boilers 2017
Fives presented papers on burners and radiant tubes lifetime on the 11th European conference on Industrial Furnaces and Boilers (INFUB) held on April 18-21, 2017 in Portugal.
The main objective of the conference was to provide an improved up-to-date understanding of the fundamentals, principles and practices associated with the design and operation of industrial furnaces and boilers and, in a broader view, of industrial systems and processes generating, transforming or using thermal energy from combustion.
Catherine Pasquinet and Sebastian Caillat, Fives Stein, a subsidiary of the Fives group, presented a keynote lecture “Burners in the steel industry: utilization of by-product combustion gases in reheating furnaces and annealing lines”. The presentation highlighted special strategies required to allow good performance of burners while using by-product combustible gases from different parts of the process: a coke oven, blast furnace and basic oxygen blast furnace.
The second presentation “Radiant tubes lifetime prediction in steel processing lines using fluid-structure correlation modelling”, posted as a stand, showed technological process of a strip processing line NeoKoil® and factors influencing radiant tube lifetime.
The conference proceedings will be published in Energy Procedia, an open access publication focusing on high-quality conference proceedings in the energy field.
