Fives' walking beam furnace for Indian steel maker JSPL
Fives has been awarded a major contract for a walking beam furnace by the Indian-based group Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), one of the largest steel makers in the world.
The walking beam furnace will be supplied in the Raigarh works of JSPL.
This furnace will be unique, burning 100% blast furnace gas as fuel through regenerative burners. In addition, the furnace will also be equipped with a backup system to fire fuel oil when blast furnace gas is not available. The combination of HFO firing with BFG firing in the same furnace make this a one-of-a-kind worldwide. Thanks to this new equipment and technologies, JSPL will benefit from low NOx emissions, reduced operating expenses and the highest possible quality of steel.
This new contract is another token of the confidence awarded to Fives by JSPL: Fives has already supplied three walking beam furnaces for its Patratu and Angul works.
