The first hot coil at Baosteel Zhanjiang steel plant

First coil from Baosteel Zhanjiang

On February 29, 2016, the first hot coil was successfully produced on the continuous annealing line of Baosteel Zhanjiang steel plant in the southeastern Guangdong province of China.

Fives was entrusted by Baosteel, the largest automotive steel producer in China, with the design and supply of a Stein Digiflex® vertical annealing furnace for its new 2,030 mm cold rolling mill project in the Zhanjiang plant. The 2,030 mm cold rolling mill, with a capacity of 2.2 million tons per annum, will mainly produce automotive exposed panels and sheets, as well as other high-end appliance products.

The Stein Digiflex® annealing furnace is composed of 10 different heating and cooling sections, including the patented FlashCooling® technology and the latest generation of AdvanTek® burners.

Baosteel expressed their satisfaction and appreciation for Fives’ efforts to meet a tight schedule, process expertise, and the quality of the equipment supplied.
