NeoKoil, silicon steel processing lines
Silicon steel also known as electrical steel (0.5 to 4.5% of silicon) is traditionally used in the production of transformers, inductors, motors and generators, and is gaining applications in the energy, electric car, appliances, and modern generator/transformer markets. It's a special steel tailored to produce specific magnetic properties, resulting in low power loss per cycle, low core loss, and high permeability that is extremely sensitive to produce.
Fives designs and supplies NeoKoil® silicon processing lines and cold rolling mills dedicated to the production of non-grain oriented (NGO) and grain oriented (GO and HiB) grades. The scope of supply includes annealing & pickling lines (APL) and annealing & coating lines (ACL) for NGO grades; as well as decarburizing & coating lines (DCL) and flattening & coating lines (FCL) for GO grades.
Fives provides process expertise, energy-saving technologies and proprietary equipment, including DMS 20Hi cold rolling mills, complete terminal equipment, degreasing sections, annealing furnaces and curing ovens, furnace atmosphere management solutions (decarburization, nitriding, etc.) and induction heating technologies.
Cold rolling mills
The DMS 20Hi cold rolling mill offers simple and safe operation and maintenance, as well as optimum strip productivity, high rolling speeds and a minimum strip thickness of 0.04 mm. Recent improvements include 10% increase in strip productivity; improved strip flatness tolerances for GO, NGO or HiB quality; fast and reliable mill/wiper roll change and a cleaner operating environment.
Entry coil handling section
The entry coil handling section is engineered to handle the coil very carefully, ensuring minimal waste and optimal product quality.
It includes entry coil skid and car, pay off reel, threading pinch roll and flattener, shearing section (entry shear and scrap evacuation system) and coil joining section (welder and notcher).
Fives customizes degreasing systems for silicon strip processing lines.
Such degreasing systems are tailored to customers’ requirements and built to minimize water consumption and utilize waste heat for a more environmentally-friendly and cost-effective operation.
Fives offers horizontal type furnaces with the AdvanTek® combustion system and compact jet coolers, Stein curing ovens and induction heating technologies to follow stringent thermal process requirements. It includes the best availbale technology for furnace atmosphere management with proprietary seal gates and analysis systems for high H2 and wet/dray atmospheres to reach the required properties of silicon steels.
